The Black Canyon stretch is where most people paddle, and for good reason: towering walls rise on both sides, and the light inside Emerald Cave shifts from deep green to almost luminous depending on the angle of the sun. But the point of a self-guided rental is that you're not following a set itinerary. Pull up to a quiet beach for lunch, drift closer to the historic Hoover Dam relics scattered along the shore, or turn back early if the wind picks up. Cold water and snacks are included, so you're not managing hunger or thirst on top of navigation.
