The Experience

The route starts at Beverly Hills City Hall, the Spanish Revival building that opened in 1932 as the largest and most expensive city hall of its size in the country. From there, you walk to the Edelweiss Chocolate Factory, a storefront that's been operating since 1942 and appeared in an episode of I Love Lucy. The audio guide walks you through the history of each stop without rushing you — you set the pace and can linger as long as you want at any point.

Rodeo Drive is the centerpiece: you'll hear the stories behind the ultra high-end boutiques, from Armani and Bijan to Gucci and Ralph Lauren, and learn which films featured the street, from Beverly Hills Cop to Clueless. The guide also points out a Frank Lloyd Wright structure, one of nine he designed in the Los Angeles area, and takes you through the Two Rodeo cobblestone plaza, an outdoor mall built with European charm that's been used as a filming location for its sophisticated architecture.

You'll also stop at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, built in 1928 when Beverly Hills was still undiscovered by Hollywood, and the Church of the Good Shepherd, which has appeared in countless films. The route ends at Beverly Hills Park, where you can snap a photo in front of the iconic Beverly Hills sign. The whole tour is designed to take about an hour, but you control when you start, when you stop, and which attractions you want to spend more time at.
