The experience

You arrive at the Grand Valley OHV area and get a full safety briefing and riding instruction before you climb into your own UTV. The guide handles the route through terrain most visitors never reach: across rugged desert trails and up the petrified sand dunes that rise from the valley floor. You drive solo or bring a friend. UTVs seat up to four people, so a family or small group can split one vehicle. The two-hour ride takes you to sweeping overlooks where the red rock desert meets the Colorado National Monument, then back down the same trails.

Helmets, bottled water and a UTV wash after the ride are included. If you choose the premium damage waiver, it covers accidental damage to the vehicle. Without it, the $1,500 deposit hold on your credit card covers repairs. The guide will stop at a gas station after the tour if the UTV needs refueling: that cost is yours to cover. Children from age three can ride as passengers. Drivers must be 21 with a valid driver's license.
