The trail passes one of Colorado's best vista points looking back at Rocky Mountain National Park. You drive your own car to the trailhead 25 minutes away, ride for roughly three hours, then return to town on your own schedule. Backbone Adventures staff are at the trail if you need help with navigation or the vehicle.

The experience

The Backbone Adventures shop sits in Estes Park town. After you check in, you drive your own car to the trailhead about 25 minutes away. Once there, the crew walks you through ATV operation, the trail map, navigation and safety, even if you've never ridden before. Then you're on the Polaris Razor, steering your own line through one of the best rocky mountain ATV trails in the region.

You ride unguided, which means you set the speed and the stops. The trail itself is the draw: it passes one of the best vista points in Colorado, looking back at Rocky Mountain National Park. The crew stays at the trailhead for anything you need: navigation help, a closer look at a particular view, or a question about the machine. When you're done riding, you drive back to town in your own car and move on to whatever's next.

Helmets, fuel and all fees are included. The ride suits anyone regardless of fitness level, and service animals are allowed. This is not a guided tour with stops and a schedule. It's three hours of riding at the pace you choose, with the safety and navigation support there if you want it.

What’s included

  • Polaris Razor rental with fuel.
  • helmets.
  • safety briefing and ATV operation instruction.
  • trail map and navigation guidance to the trailhead.
