The experience
Old Faithful erupts on schedule, and this tour puts you there to watch it. From Jackson Hole, a local guide drives you into the park and builds the two days around the geysers, hot springs and valleys that make Yellowstone distinct. You see the Grand Prismatic Spring (over 350 feet across, 160 feet deep, and ringed in orange, red, green and yellow microbial mats), then walk through Fountain Paint Pot, where all four types of geothermal features sit in one volcanic landscape: geysers, mud pots, hot springs and steam vents.
The first night you stay in lodging in West Yellowstone or Gardiner, Montana, with breakfast, lunch and dinner provided. Day two takes you through the Upper Loop: Mammoth Hot Springs with its travertine terraces, Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley, where the wildlife habitat is prime for bison, elk, grizzly bears, wolves and bald eagles. The tour includes park entrance fees, binoculars for spotting, and hotel pickup and drop-off from Jackson Hole or West Yellowstone. You'll walk a moderate amount across multiple stops, so dress for the weather: the tour runs regardless of conditions.
