A guided hike and snorkel from Cruz Bay that starts at the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center, follows the Lind Point Trail past a scenic overlook of the bay and St. Thomas, then descends to Honeymoon Beach for a swim and reef exploration. Your guide provides mask, snorkel, fins, inflatable life vest and a fish ID card; children are welcome from age 8. The morning and afternoon departures are both three hours.

The Experience

You meet your guide at the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center, a short walk from the ferry terminal in Cruz Bay. From there, the Lind Point Trail climbs through the island's wildlife and history—your guide explains the ecosystems as you walk, and at the scenic overlook you stop to photograph Cruz Bay and St. Thomas across the water. The trail then descends to Honeymoon Beach, where the sand is soft and the water sits still enough to see down.

Once in the water, your guide fits you with an inflatable life vest, mask and fins, then stays with you as you snorkel. They carry a fish ID card to name what you see—the colorful corals, the reef fish moving through them—and they help you look for sea turtles, which move through this stretch regularly. The guide stays in the water with you the whole time, pointing things out and making sure you're steady in the current.

After the snorkel, you walk back to the visitor center with your guide, the island still around you. The whole outing runs three hours. Bring a valid ID for the national park; bottled water is provided. Children from age 8 can join, though the hike and the ocean entry aren't recommended for anyone with spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns.
