The experience
The tour works around your preferences. You tell the driver which beaches matter to you, and the open-air safari takes you between them. Every seat has a view, and the wind and fresh air come with the ride. A native guide drives and shares knowledge of St John as you move from stop to stop. Bottled water is included. Everything else is your call.
Trunk Bay is one of the world's most beautiful beaches and has snorkel rentals, chairs, a bar and a self-guided snorkel cay, though entry costs $6 per person (children 15 and under are free, and this fee is not included in the tour price). Maho Bay has both National Park beach and private facilities, with food and the Contiki Bar. Hawksnest Bay is a local favorite for snorkeling or just relaxing, with no vendors on site. Caneel Bay offers a historic setting across 150 acres and is accessible only to guests using the private shuttle. You can spend an hour at each of three beaches or linger longer at two. The choice is yours.
The tour runs four hours total. Pickup is included, and the vehicle is an open-air safari, so dress for sun and wind. Infants can ride in a stroller or on an adult's lap. The service works year-round with separate summer and winter schedules.
