A private full-day boat charter from St. Thomas aboard MV Aquarius, a 31-foot Wellcraft powerboat, takes your group to the islands and harbors of St. John and the British Virgin Islands. Your captain designs the itinerary around your preferences: snorkel at Sandy Spit or Norman Island, visit Jost Van Dyke and Foxy's, or explore the cays. Snorkeling equipment, drinks and a live English-speaking guide are included.

The experience

Eight hours on the water means you set the pace. The boat departs American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook on St. Thomas, though advance notice gets you pickup at Yacht Haven Grande in Charlotte Amalie or Cruz Bay on St. John instead. MV Aquarius is a 2019 Wellcraft with twin 300hp Yamaha engines: fast enough to reach the BVIs in the morning and give you real time at each stop, not a rushed glimpse from the water.

Your captain plans the day with your group. Jost Van Dyke and the world-famous Foxy's and Soggy Dollar are reachable options. So are Sandy Spit for snorkeling, Norman Island, and the Baths. The bow has seating for conversations, tanning or watching for sea turtles. Snorkeling equipment is on board, and the Fusion sound system runs Bluetooth so you can play your own music. Soda, water and beer come with the charter.

One practical note: the BVI collects a customs fee of $75 per person when you enter, paid directly by your group at the time. The boat is out of the water through October 2023, so check availability for summer and early fall departures.
