The Experience

Hands gripping the rail, I watched as Captain Jamie eased us out from St. Thomas — no rush, just that low hum of the twin Yamahas and a salty breeze sneaking under my hat. He’s third-generation local, which I only realized after he pointed out his uncle’s fishing boat bobbing near Water Island. “That’s family,” he said, like it explained everything about knowing these waters by heart.
