The experience

You meet your guide at Fishing Harbour in Jumeirah 1, get fitted with a safety jacket, and head to the jet ski station. The first 10 minutes is a free warm-up ride to get comfortable with the Yamaha 2019 FX Wave Runner, with the Dubai skyline and Burj Khalifa already filling your view. Then you choose your pace: 30 minutes or 60 minutes of open-water riding along the coast, passing Burj Al Arab and the Sheikh Zayed Road towers. The instructor stays with you the whole time, and they're shooting photos throughout so you have shots of yourself out on the water.

This is not a guided tour with stops. You're controlling the jet ski and setting the speed within the ride window you picked. The water conditions and weather matter here. If the sea is rough, the operator will ask you to reschedule rather than push through unsafe conditions. Bring your passport or Emirates ID, wear clothes you don't mind getting wet, and pack goggles and sunglasses. Your belongings go in a free locker, and you'll collect everything before you leave.

After you're done riding, you get fresh juice and bottled water to cool down. The whole activity runs about two hours from arrival to departure. You need to show up 10 minutes early, and everyone signs an indemnity form before getting on the jet ski: any damage or injury during the ride is your responsibility, not covered by insurance.
