What’s the experience like?

I’ll admit, I was mostly curious about what a 24 karat gold jet ski even looked like. Turns out, it’s shiny enough to make you laugh at yourself for feeling fancy in swim shorts. We met our guide near the marina—he had that relaxed Dubai confidence and handed us life jackets with a quick grin. The air smelled salty and warm, and the city looked almost unreal from the water. I still remember how the Bluetooth speaker blasted some pop song as we pulled away; it felt both ridiculous and perfect.

We followed our guide along the coastline, not too fast but enough to feel the spray on my face. The Burj Khalifa just sort of hovered in the distance—so tall it made everything else look like toys. At one point we stopped in front of the Burj Al Arab (the sail-shaped hotel), and our guide offered to take photos. He told us a bit about how this spot is where locals come to show off their best rides on weekends. I tried to say “Jumeirah” properly—Li laughed at my attempt (I definitely butchered it). There were other jet skis zipping by, but ours caught more stares than most.

The sun kept shifting behind clouds, making all those glass towers flicker gold and blue. We passed Atlantis on Palm Jumeirah too—honestly, seeing it from the water gives you a whole different sense of how wild this city is. The ride wasn’t long but it was just enough; my hands were buzzing when we got back to shore. Bottled water never tasted so good after all that salt spray.
