The Experience

Pickup happens around 4:30 am from your Dubai hotel, which is the only way to reach the desert in time for sunrise. The drive takes you out to Red Sand Desert, where the dunes are still cool and the sky is beginning to shift color. Once there, the guide takes over the dune bashing—20 to 30 minutes of driving across the sand that moves the vehicle in ways a flat road never does. Between runs, there's a photo stop in the middle of the desert when the light is at its best.

After the driving portion, you get time for sand boarding down the dunes, then a 5-minute camel ride. Bottled water is provided throughout. The whole experience runs about 4 hours from pickup to drop-off back at your hotel, which means you're back before the day's heat sets in and before most of Dubai is awake.
