The tour starts in Al Fahidi Historical District, where you move through narrow alleys lined with traditional houses built before the oil boom. The architecture (gypsum, coral and palm wood) tells the story of how Dubai looked when trade, not towers, shaped the city. Along the way, the guide stops at the Coffee Museum, Coins Museum and Dubai Museum inside Al Fahidi Fort, each one a small window into local life and the routes that once connected this port to the wider world. The creek itself runs through this section, and you'll see it from the waterfront before crossing it.

The abra ride is short but it's the real thing: a wooden boat that still ferries people between Bur Dubai and Deira the way it has for decades. From the water, you see the old trading ports and the souks from a different angle. The way merchants and traders would have arrived. The ride connects the two halves of the old city and lands you at the Spice Souk.

The Spice Souk hits you first with smell: stalls packed with colorful spices, herbs, teas and blends that fill the air.
