The experience

The vehicle pulls up to your hotel before sunrise, and within minutes you're heading toward the dunes. Dubai's desert doesn't announce itself. It just appears, suddenly golden and endless, and the driver points the SUV straight at the steep red slopes. Dune bashing is exactly what it sounds like: the car climbs and drops over the sand at angles that feel impossible, and your stomach does the work of a roller coaster without the track.
