The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup in an air-conditioned 4x4 Land Cruiser. Your guide drives deep into the red desert, where the real thrill begins: dune bashing over high dunes as the sun drops lower and turns the sand orange. You'll watch the sunset spread across the rippling landscape before heading to the Bedouin camp as light fades.

At the camp, you ride a camel across the sand, then settle onto low cushions with Arabic coffee and dates. A henna artist paints intricate designs on your hands while you relax. The buffet dinner, traditional barbecue with multiple dishes, arrives as the entertainment begins: a tanura dancer in a spinning skirt, a belly dancer, and a fire performer. Arab music plays throughout. Water and soft drinks flow all evening.

Sandboarding is available if you want it, and there's time for photographs of the sunset and the camp itself. The whole experience runs about seven hours from pickup to drop-off, ending late enough that the desert has cooled and the stars are visible.
