You’ll get to race across Dubai’s red dunes on quad bikes, try sandboarding (it’s fun even if you fall), ride camels at sunset, and relax with live dance shows plus a big BBQ dinner under desert stars. If you want an evening that mixes adventure with real local flavor, this is it.
The first thing I noticed stepping out of the 4x4 was the warm, dry air—almost sweet with a hint of spice from the sand. Our guide, Ahmed, handed us helmets and gave a quick run-through on the quad bikes. The engines rumbled to life and off we went, weaving across those famous red dunes. It’s hard to describe the feeling—like riding a rollercoaster but you’re steering. Sand sprayed up behind us and sometimes I caught myself grinning for no reason at all.
After the ride, we tried sandboarding. Honestly, it’s trickier than it looks! I wiped out once and ended up with sand everywhere—shoes, pockets, even my hair. But watching the sunset from the top of a dune made it worth every tumble. The sky turned this soft orange-pink and for a moment everything just felt still.
Back at camp, camels waited near the entrance. Their handlers were friendly and let us snap photos before leading us on a short ride around the camp’s edge. There was this quiet sound—the camels’ soft grunts mixed with distant music from inside. Inside the tented area, tables were set low to the ground and we could smell grilled meat and spices drifting from the BBQ pit. We tried Arabic coffee (Gawa) and these little sweet dumplings called Gaymat while watching a Tanoura dancer spin in colorful skirts. Later, there was henna painting and even a chance to hold a falcon for photos. The fire show got everyone cheering—it’s hotter up close than you’d expect!
Kids can join most activities but must ride quads as passengers if underage; infants sit on laps during transport.
Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting sandy; closed shoes are best for quad biking.
