The experience

The morning starts with hotel pickup and a drive through Dubai Creek to the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, where the traditional fortress takes you back centuries into the country's past. From there the route moves to Jumeirah Mosque for a photo stop, then to Jumeirah Beach where Burj Al Arab rises across the water. The tour continues to Palm Jumeirah, the man-made island lined with five-star resorts, and along Sheikh Zayed Road past the city's skyscrapers and the Burj Khalifa. You return to your hotel mid-afternoon.

The desert safari departs at 4pm from your hotel. An expert driver takes you into the Arabian Desert for 20 to 25 minutes of dune bashing, with several stops along the way to photograph the landscape or try sandboarding. As you approach sunset, you reach the camp in the middle of the desert, where you're welcomed with Arabian tea and sweets and get to watch the desert sunset. At evening, a buffet BBQ dinner is served with unlimited soft drinks, followed by a traditional belly dance show and a Tandoora performance. After dinner, the transfer back to your hotel is arranged.

Camel riding, henna painting and a falcon display are part of the desert experience. The combo structure means you get a break at your hotel between the city tour and the safari, so you're not moving continuously from morning into evening. A minimum of two people per booking is required. Vegetarian options are available at dinner, and children under 3 travel free. During Ramadan, the evening entertainment and alcohol service do not operate.
