The experience
The day starts with pickup from your Kampala hotel and heads east toward Sezibwa Falls, a 100-foot waterfall that holds deep cultural meaning for the Baganda people. The hike around the falls takes you through trails lined with native trees and bird species. Local stories about the site's spiritual significance come from your guide. From there the route continues to Lugazi, where Uganda's largest sugar and tea plantations spread across the landscape: a chance to see the scale of the region's agriculture before moving into forest.
Mabira Forest, one of Uganda's largest tropical rainforests about 54 kilometers from Kampala, is the third major stop. Over 200 tree species grow here, including mahogany and ironwood, and the forest hosts a wide range of bird and animal life. The route then passes the Nile bridge for a scenic view and photos before arriving in Jinja for the boat ride on the Source of the Nile itself. The John Hanning Speke Monument marks the spot where the explorer identified the river's origin flowing out of Lake Victoria in 1862. Birdwatching, views of small islands and the historical weight of the discovery fill the final hours on the water.
Lunch is included during the day. Your driver-guide speaks English and handles all navigation and timing. The full itinerary runs about nine hours from hotel to hotel, with the stops themselves (the waterfall hike, the forest walk, the boat ride) built into that span. Flexible vehicle options (private car, shuttle bus or luxury coach) are available at checkout depending on group size.
