Your crew gaffs the fish and cooks it for you on a deserted beach.

A 4-hour bottom fishing trip in Turks and Caicos puts you on a luxury catamaran anchored along the outside reef, where you cast lines for grouper, snapper, mackerel and trigger fish. After fishing, the crew motors to a deserted island, grills your catch with local sides, and you swim or snorkel while you eat. The mate guides you through the fight when a fish hits, and the crew handles the gaff and prep.

The experience

Thirty minutes after leaving the harbor, the boat anchors along one of the world's largest reefs where the deep water teems with fish. You cast your line and wait for the bite. When it comes, the mate walks you through the fight (how to work the rod, when to reel), and hauls the fish aboard once it's close. Grouper, snapper, mackerel and trigger fish are the regular catch here, and the captain knows the spots where they feed.

Once you've caught enough, the crew weighs anchor and heads to a deserted island. While you explore the beach or wade into the crystal clear water, the crew cleans and grills your fish, setting up lunch with local prepared sides. You eat what you caught, drink cold beverages and fresh fruit, and swim or snorkel off the boat. The crew can also stop at Iguana Island if you want to walk and see the iguanas, or cruise past the sunken cannons off George Cay and the villas on Parrot Cay on the way back.

A licensed guide leads the trip and the crew customizes the day to what you want: more fishing time, more snorkeling, more island time. Soda, water, alcoholic beverages and snacks are included. Pickup is included if you're in the Grace Bay area.
