The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel and a transfer to the launch site, where free tea, coffee and cookies wait before the flight. The balloon holds 20–32 people, so you'll share the basket with other travelers. Weather determines whether the flight runs that morning. If it doesn't, you get a full refund.

Once airborne, you spend 45–60 minutes floating over Pamukkale's terraced white pools and the ruins of Hierapolis scattered across the plateau below. The balloon drifts with the wind rather than following a set route, so the view changes with each flight. After landing, the crew leads a champagne or sparkling wine toast to mark the flight, and you receive a certificate before the minibus takes you back to your hotel.

An English-speaking guide is with the group throughout. The whole experience (pickup, flight, celebration and return) takes about two hours from start to finish.
