The Experience

The minibus picks you up from your Marmaris hotel after 9am and drives about 30 minutes north through farmland and pine trees to Çamlı, a small village where the boats are waiting. It's a quiet start—just the drive and the anticipation—before you board and the Gökova Gulf opens up in front of you. The boat heads toward Cleopatra Island, also called Sedir Island, which sits in a National Conservation Area. The legend goes that Marc Antony gave the island to Cleopatra, and when she didn't like the sand, he had Egyptian sand shipped in to make her happy. Whether that's true or not, the beach is real: pale pink sand, crystal clear water, and a small bay on the northwest side where you'll spend three hours swimming, snorkeling, or just lying in the sun.

After you leave the island, lunch arrives on deck—grilled meat, fresh salads, bread—and unlimited soft drinks flow the whole day. Then the boat moves to Ince Kum, a National Park known for its fine sand (the name means exactly that in Turkish), where you get 45 minutes to swim and snorkel again. A second bay follows with another 45-minute break in dark blue water. The rhythm of the day is simple: boat, swim, boat, swim, eat, swim, boat home.
