The experience

Kemer Marina is where the day starts. You board the Mega Star after your hotel pickup in the morning. The boat itself is the difference here: spacious sun decks, shaded lounges, clean restrooms and a bar mean you're not crammed in with hundreds of others. The Taurus Mountains frame the marina, and from there the route moves south along the coast to Phaselis, the first stop.

Phaselis is an ancient Roman port where you walk among real ruins (a stone-paved main avenue, an amphitheater, Roman baths), and then swim in the shallow bay surrounded by pine trees and the remains themselves. After that, Cennet Bay and Kleopatra Bay are both swimming stops in turquoise water, each one quiet enough to float and photograph. The legend about Kleopatra is that she swam here. Whether or not it's true, the mineral-rich water and the secluded cliffs make it feel like a place worth the trip. You get time to snorkel, sunbathe or simply drift.

Lunch is an open buffet served on board: grilled chicken or fish, rice or pasta, salad and bread, with vegetarian plates available. Between the swimming stops, there's live DJ music, a foam party on deck, contests and animation shows for families. Professional photographers work the boat if you want prints. The return to Kemer happens in the late afternoon, and the transfer back to your hotel is included.
