The experience

The boat leaves Kas Marina at 9:30 am and heads first to Inönü Bay, where you anchor for the first swim at a small sandy beach tucked into the corner. After an hour back under sail, you reach Aquarium Bay, while you're in the water here, the chef prepares lunch on deck. You eat aboard, then sail slowly past the Kekova sunken city ruins while the skipper explains what you're looking at: submerged buildings and streets from a Lycian settlement that sank centuries ago.

The afternoon splits between two more stops. Simena Castle sits on a hillside above the water, and you get an hour to walk up to the castle itself, wander the village, and try the hand-made ice cream. On the way back to Kas, you stop at the Lycian tombs carved into the cliffs at Üçağız Village, then swim again for 30 minutes at Tersane Koyu. A final 30-minute swim at Çamlık Bay, near Kas, comes before the sail home, arriving at the marina at 6 pm.

The yacht is a Beneteau Oceanis 48: large enough that your group has space, small enough that it moves easily through the bays. Your skipper speaks English, Russian or Turkish, and the chef cooks to order. Snorkelling gear is on board. The water is clear enough that you'll see fish and rock formations below the surface. No sailing experience is required, though if you want to learn, the skipper can teach you while underway.

Kekova is a Lycian settlement that subsided into the sea centuries ago, leaving buildings and streets visible underwater and from the boat. Your skipper sails slowly past the ruins and explains the history as you pass. You see them from the water rather than diving down to them.

How many times do we swim, and how long do we spend in the water?

You swim at four stops: Inönü Bay, Aquarium Bay, Tersane Koyu (30 minutes) and Çamlık Bay (30 minutes). The first two swims are open-ended while lunch is being prepared or eaten, so the total time in the water depends on how long you want to stay at each bay.
