The experience

The tour starts at 10am and covers the heart of historic Istanbul without the exhaustion of walking. You'll ride past Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace, the primary residence of Ottoman Sultans, plus the Hippodrome where chariot races once happened, Constantine's Column, the Beyazit Mosque near the Grand Bazaar, Sehzade Mosque (considered Sinan's first architectural masterpiece), the Süleymaniye Mosque, the largest in Istanbul, and Gülhane Park, the city's oldest and largest urban park. The route stays in the Sultanahmet district, where the major landmarks cluster together.

Segway training takes less than two minutes, so there's no learning curve that eats into the tour. You get a helmet, audio headset to hear the guide's commentary at each stop, and waterproof gear if rain comes. A live guide in English leads the whole ride and explains what you're seeing as you pass each site. The three-hour pace means you move between stops without long waits, and the Segway covers ground that would take hours on foot.

The tour does not include interior visits to Hagia Sophia or Topkapi Palace Museums. You see the exteriors and their settings in the district. If you want to go inside either one, you'd need to book those separately. Public transportation options are nearby if you need them before or after the tour.
