The Experience

I’ll admit, I was nervous stepping off the ship in Kusadasi—maybe it was the crowd, or maybe just the weird thrill of knowing we’d be walking where St. Paul once did. Our guide, Ayşe, waved a little sign with my name (always feels odd), and off we went toward Ephesus. The air smelled faintly of olives and dust.
