The Experience

Your hotel pickup happens at 4am—early enough that Istanbul is still mostly asleep. The drive to the airport takes about an hour, and then you're on a domestic flight to Izmir, which lands around 7:30am. A representative meets you at the terminal exit, and after another hour's drive through the Aegean landscape, you're standing in Ephesus itself. Your licensed guide walks you through the Senate Building, the Ancient Hospital, the Temple of Domitian, and then to the Celsus Library—the one everyone comes for, with its two-story facade still mostly intact. The drive back to Izmir Airport takes an hour, and your return flight to Istanbul leaves in the late afternoon.
