The experience

Tamerza opens the day with a waterfall dropping into a canyon and the ruins of an old Berber village scattered across the mountainside. From there, Chebika sits at the foot of a steep slope where a wadi runs down in springs and rivulets, its palms fed by the water and its ancient settlement built into the rock. Mides comes last among the three, tucked into a canyon so high the cliffs frame the entire oasis: each one looks different, and each one is built into landscape that does not soften.

The second half of the day moves into the Star Wars sites. Mos Espa spreads across the Sahara dunes with the pod-racing arena, market stalls, Watto's shop, and Sebulba's Café still standing. East of the set, the Yardangs rise where the Qui-Gon and Darth Maul duel was shot. Ong Jemel, the "neck of the camel," marks where Darth Maul arrives on Tatooine and releases the Sith Probes. Luke Skywalker's homestead sits in the heart of Chott el Jerid, the igloo structure where his story began, and Sidi Bouhlel's oasis (its palms and cliffs used for alien planet scenes) closes the route.
