Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Monastir's historic sites and marina
- Visit traditional Medina and local shops
- Tour the Ribat fortress
- See Bourguiba Mausoleum and gardens
- Walk along Monastir Marina
- Visit local fish market
The experience
The tour starts in the medina, where narrow streets hold local shops and the rhythm of everyday Tunisian life. You walk through this quarter with a guide who can explain what you're seeing, then move on to the Ribat of Monastir: a fortress that sits on the coast and counts as one of the oldest Islamic monuments in North Africa. The Ribat entry is included, so you don't buy a ticket separately at the gate.
From there the route takes you to the Bourguiba Mausoleum, an elegant structure surrounded by peaceful gardens and built to honor Tunisia's first president. The architecture here is striking enough that people often linger. After the mausoleum, you stroll along Monastir Marina to see the fishing boats and water views, then finish at the local fish market, one of the cheapest in Tunisia, where the daily catch comes in and traders work the stalls. This is where most tours end, so you get a real sense of how the market operates rather than a staged version of it.
Hotel pickup is included if you choose it at checkout. You can select either the Hammamet or Mahdia departure or the Monastir or Sousse one, depending on where you're staying. The vehicle is air-conditioned and the whole outing runs about three hours. The guide speaks English or French.
What’s included

Is this one for you?Choose the Hammamet or Mahdia pickup if you're based on the coast north of Monastir. Choose the Monastir or Sousse option if you're staying closer to the city itself. Either way, the guide and the vehicle handle the route, so you spend the three hours looking and listening rather than navigating.
