The experience
The day starts at 7:10 with pickup from your Khao Lak hotel. The drive takes you to Khao Sok National Park headquarters, where the jungle trek begins. You'll walk nearly 6 km through the oldest rainforest in the region, following a trail that runs alongside a cool clear stream. Your guide points out the flora and fauna (wild monkeys, langurs and reptiles are common sightings), and when you reach the stream, you stop to swim before heading back. Thai lunch at a local restaurant follows, giving you time to rest before the afternoon's water section.
Around 2 pm, you move to the Sok River for the bamboo rafting portion. You sit on a bamboo raft while the crew rows you down the river, passing the limestone mountains and lush forest that define Khao Sok's landscape. The pace is slow and observational (you're floating, not paddling), so the focus stays on the scenery. Once you return to the riverbank, the staff boil water over an open fire to make jungle coffee served in a bamboo cup, a small ritual that marks the transition to the final stop.
Before heading back to Khao Lak, you visit Khao Sok View Point for a bird's-eye panorama of the rainforest canopy. The return to your hotel happens around 4 pm. Bottled water is provided throughout, and the air-conditioned vehicle handles all transport between sites.

Is this one for you?Small group trips work well here since the guide leads the jungle trek and the rafting crew manages the river pace, so you're not coordinating logistics yourself. If you want a mix of hiking and water without operating a kayak or canoe, the bamboo rafting setup lets you float and observe while someone else handles the rowing.
