Step-by-step itinerary
Mangrove hike and river boat ride
- Walk 1km mangrove forest walkway
- Stop at raised platform viewpoint
- Boat trip on Pranburi River
- Visit Khao Daeng mountain viewpoint
The experience
Pranburi Forest Park sits an easy drive from Hua Hin and opens into dense mangrove forest crossed by a raised boardwalk. The 1km walk keeps you above the water and inside the canopy, where long-tailed macaques and birds move through the branches. Halfway along, a raised platform lifts you above the forest floor for a view down into the trees and out across the surrounding area. The boardwalk is accessible enough that buggies can manage it, yet the height and the forest close around you make it feel remote.
After the mangrove walk, you board a long-tailed boat on the Pran Buri River. The boat ride moves through the waterway that borders the park and connects to Pak Nam Pran Village downstream. From the water, the landscape shifts: the mangroves thin and the river opens toward the coast.
The final stop is Khao Daeng viewpoint, reached by a trail of roughly 700 meters from the park headquarters. At 157 meters, the peak commands a 360-degree view over the valley, mountains, villages and beach. On the rare days when Khao Daeng closes (June), the tour visits Chao Mae Tubtim Thong Shrine instead, another elevated vantage where you can see the Pran Buri River and Pak Nam Pran Village clearly. Your guide speaks English or Thai throughout, and lunch is included partway through the day.
