Flying Hanuman is a zipline activity in Phuket where you move through a treetop course of 42 wooden platforms, 16 ziplines, 3 sky bridges and 3 abseil points over 3 to 4 hours. The platforms are custom-built around each tree with minimal drilling, and an English-speaking guide leads the way. Lunch, a welcome drink, bottled water, a Flying Hanuman T-shirt and round-trip transfer from your hotel are included. First aid insurance is covered. Children from age 4 are welcome, and the activity suits all fitness levels up to 120 kg body weight.

The experience

The course starts with a 20-minute walk through the forest before you clip into the first platform. From there you move through the canopy on 16 separate ziplines, cross three sky bridges suspended between trees, and descend three abseil points where you control your own descent on a fixed rope. The platforms themselves are the engineering detail that sets this apart. Each one is made from wood and fitted directly to the tree it sits in, with industrial-strength cables anchoring the safety lines. Most of the equipment stays on the outside of the trees, and the builders drilled only where safety required it, so the forest around you stays largely intact.

You'll work through the course with an English-speaking guide who manages the group and handles the technical setup at each station. The pace is steady but not rushed. You move at your own speed through each element, and the guide is there to check your harness, explain the next section and answer questions. A spiral stairway leads up to some platforms, and a sky rail, a single cable you ride across, connects two points. The dual zipline lets two people ride side by side if the group size allows it.

After you finish the course, a meal waits for you: a Thai set meal with water and seasonal fruit. The minibus or van picks you up from your hotel before the activity and brings you back after lunch, so you don't arrange transport yourself. The whole experience runs 3 to 4 hours from start to finish. Departures are at 8am, 10am, 1pm or 3pm, and you choose the time that fits your day.
