The experience
The boat leaves your Koh Samui hotel between 7:30 and 8:30 am and heads straight into open water toward the park's limestone islands. Once you arrive, the first stop is a quick swim in the bay to shake off the journey. Then you climb the steps to the top of Koh Mae Koh, where the Emerald Lake sits in a basin ringed by vegetation. The viewpoint is the reason most people book this tour, and the climb takes you above the whole archipelago at once.
Back at sea level, you start kayaking from the same island, paddling into narrow channels between the cliffs and exploring hidden coves the speed boat cannot reach. After that comes snorkeling: the reef work happens at a separate site, and snorkeling gear and life jackets are provided. The pace is built around these three activities, not a checklist of island names, so you spend real time in the water instead of watching the boat move between photo stops.
Lunch is a buffet served on board while you cruise at a slower pace between the morning and afternoon activities. The meal features local specialties and gives you a break to dry off and eat without rushing back to the hotel. You return to Koh Samui by late afternoon, usually around 3:30 or 4 pm. The national park entrance fee (300 baht per adult, 150 baht per child) is paid separately at the gate, not included in the tour price.
Is this one for you?Small groups stay under the boat's capacity, so you travel with other tourists rather than as a private charter. The fixed itinerary (Emerald Lake climb, kayaking, snorkeling, lunch) means you hit all three activities in one day without choosing between them or spending time on islands that don't interest you.

What is the Emerald Lake at Koh Mae Koh actually like when you get there?

Kayaking is the first water activity after the Emerald Lake climb, and you paddle from Koh Mae Koh into narrow channels between limestone formations and hidden coves. The exact duration depends on the group pace, but it is a core part of the day, not a brief add-on.
Is snorkeling equipment included, or do I need to bring my own?
Snorkeling equipment and life jackets are provided as part of the tour. You do not need to bring your own gear.
What time does the boat pick me up, and when do I get back to my hotel?
Hotel pickup happens between 7:30 and 8:30 am depending on which hotel you are staying at on Koh Samui. The return to your hotel is typically in the late afternoon, around 3:30 to 4 pm, after an eight-hour day.
