The experience
The day opens at the Tropical Spice Garden, where you learn why Zanzibar earned the name "Spice Island." Your guide walks you through aromatic crops (nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, saffron), and you taste them fresh. From there, a three-hour exploration of Stone Town captures the city's Swahili core: the narrow streets, the trading history, the architecture that built the island's wealth. The air-conditioned vehicle moves between stops, and bottled water travels with you.
Lunch is on your own, but the afternoon brings you to the Secret Garden, a restaurant set into hidden ruins open to the sky, where you can order à la carte and sit among Zanzibar-inspired dishes. Later, Kuza Cave, one of Jambiani's oldest natural treasures, opens up limestone formations and crystal-clear water for swimming. You'll see local artifacts and a timeline of Swahili history, and the cave hosts African traditional music and vibes. The day closes at Paje Beach, where soft white sand and shallow water meet the Indian Ocean, ideal for a final swim or barefoot walk before the sun begins to set.
The final three hours belong to The Rock Restaurant near Michamvi Pingwe, a dinner with a view of the ocean as it darkens. A glass of chilled sparkling wine arrives first, followed by a three-course meal of seafood or authentic Swahili specialties. All fees and taxes are covered. The vehicle is wheelchair accessible, and children from age two are welcome.
