The Experience
Hotel pickup at 6 a.m. on day one takes you three to four hours to Tarangire National Park, where the Tarangire River draws elephants, giraffes and other wildlife from the surrounding area. You'll spend roughly three hours on a game drive, pause for a box lunch inside the park, then continue until evening when you settle at a campsite or lodge. The next morning, a three- to four-hour drive crosses the Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands and brings you to the Serengeti. Days three and four are full days in the Serengeti — the largest park on the route — with breakfast game drives that often catch lions and other predators on their morning hunt, lunch boxes eaten in the field, and afternoon exploration that can push ten hours in the vehicle. The scale of the park means you travel further from camp than on other days.
Day five moves you from the Serengeti back into Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a four-hour game drive that doubles as your exit from the park. The Ngorongoro Crater itself sits at 7,500 feet and holds more than 25,000 grazers and carnivores on its floor — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's seven natural wonders. You descend 600 meters down the crater wall on day six for a six-hour game drive; overnight stays are outside the crater near the rim because the altitude and wind mean you'll want a knit cap and light gloves even during the day. The final morning takes you to Lake Manyara National Park in the Great Rift Valley, famous for tree-climbing lions and a soda-ash lake ringed with pink flamingos. After four to five hours of game driving, you drive four hours back to Moshi, arriving in the afternoon.
All meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner — are included throughout, as are park admission fees, fuel surcharge and gratuities. The vehicle is air-conditioned and carries on-board WiFi. Your guide speaks English and leads all game drives. Hotel pickup is included; you'll need to arrange your own flights to and from Tanzania, and entry visas are not covered by the tour price.

What animals will I see on a 7-day Tanzania safari?
The Big Five — lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos — are present across these four parks, though sightings are never guaranteed. Tarangire is especially known for large elephant herds; the Serengeti is where you're most likely to see predators on morning hunts; Ngorongoro Crater holds more than 25,000 grazers and carnivores in a confined space; and Lake Manyara is famous for tree-climbing lions and over 400 bird species including pink flamingos.
How much time do I actually spend on game drives each day?
Day one in Tarangire runs roughly three hours. Days three and four in the Serengeti are full days, with one day pushing ten hours in the vehicle. Day five is a four-hour drive that also serves as your exit from the Serengeti. Day six in Ngorongoro Crater is six hours. Day seven at Lake Manyara is four to five hours before the four-hour drive back to Moshi. Days two and five include driving time between parks, which is three to four hours each.
Where do I sleep on this safari?
You stay at campsites or lodges each night, with overnight accommodation outside Ngorongoro Crater near the rim because overnights are not permitted inside the crater itself. The crater location sits at 7,500 feet, so nights are cold and windy.
Is the 7-day safari physically demanding?
The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels and is wheelchair accessible. Most days involve sitting in a vehicle for several hours with breaks for meals and exploration. Day six requires descending and ascending the 600-meter crater wall, which is the most physically demanding part of the itinerary.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to arrange separately?
The tour includes hotel pickup from Moshi, all transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle, all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), park admission fees, fuel surcharge and gratuities, plus an English-speaking guide for all game drives. You'll need to arrange your own international flights to Tanzania and obtain an entry visa separately; neither is covered by the tour.
When does the safari start and end each day?
Hotel pickup is at 6 a.m. on day one. Game drives typically begin at sunrise and continue until evening, with lunch breaks in the field. The final day ends with a four-hour drive back to Moshi, arriving in the afternoon.
