The experience
The itinerary splits into two distinct halves. The first four days center on the Serengeti, where you fly from Arusha to the park airstrip and settle into a tented camp. Your private guide leads sunrise and full-day game drives through different habitats, from the predator-rich Seronera Valley to hippo pools and open plains dotted with acacias. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and herds of wildebeest and zebras appear as the landscape shifts throughout the day. An optional hot air balloon safari on day three floats you above the herds at sunrise, followed by a champagne bush breakfast before afternoon exploration.
On day four, an early morning game drive precedes your flight to Zanzibar. The island half begins with a beachfront resort arrival and shifts pace entirely: day five includes a walking tour through a spice plantation where you taste clove, vanilla, cinnamon and cardamom straight from the farm, then moves into Stone Town, the UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets, Arab-Swahili architecture and the Old Slave Market. A rooftop dinner overlooking the Indian Ocean or beach sunset closes the evening. Day six leaves time for a swim or beach walk before your airport transfer.
Your private guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language throughout, and all accommodations, meals, game drives and entrance fees are included. Round-trip airport transfers from Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport bookend the journey. Children from age five are welcome, though the safari vehicle and early starts suit older children better.

Is this one for you?The early morning game drives and full-day safari pace demand an early start and several hours in an open vehicle each day, which concentrates wildlife viewing into the Serengeti's most active hours and keeps the island portion relaxed by contrast.
