The experience

The hike starts from your hotel or a pickup point and climbs toward Choma Waterfalls, where you can swim or rest by the water before lunch. From there the route continues through Kisosa village (a spot to catch the sunset if the timing works), and on to Morningside, the overnight stop. Your guide explains the history of this old German settlement while you eat dinner at the campsite and watch the city lights below. Tents, mattresses and sleeping bags are provided.

The second morning you leave Morningside and enter the Nature Reserve Rainforest on the way to Bondwa Peak. The climb takes between 2.5 and 3 hours on average. Along the way you move through different forest zones and may spot black and white colobus monkeys or blue monkeys. The peak itself opens onto views of the city and the surrounding landscape. You can carry lunch up with you if you want to eat at the top, then descend back toward the city center, retracing parts of the route.

Hotel pickup is included, and your guide speaks English throughout. The tour runs at a moderate pace suited to hikers with reasonable fitness. Children from age 6 are welcome on the hike.
