Swiss Alps Scenic Day Tour

  • Enjoy breakfast at Brünig Pass café
  • Walk along Aareschlucht Gorge paths
  • Explore Interlaken town and lakes
  • Visit Lauterbrunnen Valley and Staubbach Falls

The experience

The day starts at Brünig Pass, where you have coffee or breakfast in a 100-year-old Swiss café with panoramic views across the mountains. From there, the route descends to the Aareschlucht, a narrow gorge where wooden walkways and rock-carved tunnels let you walk the full 1.4 kilometers alongside the rushing Aare River. The gorge walls rise 200 meters on either side. Sunlight filters through the chasm and catches the mist. This is the stop most people come back to photograph.

Interlaken sits next, nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. You explore the town's streets and mountain views at your own speed: no fixed itinerary, no group schedule. Then the route moves to Lauterbrunnen Valley, where the Staubbach Falls drop 297 meters from a vertical cliff face. The name means "dust stream" because the water disperses into fine mist during the fall. The valley itself holds 72 waterfalls in total. The main street and surrounding meadows are framed by towering cliffs.

Your driver and guide speak English or German and stay with you throughout. The vehicle is air-conditioned and spacious. Bottled water is provided. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included. The whole day runs 9 to 10 hours, but you set the rhythm: longer at a stop that holds you, shorter at one that doesn't. Lunch is on your own.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and German.

How long is the walk through the Aareschlucht gorge?

The Aareschlucht walk covers approximately 1.4 kilometers (0.87 miles) along a well-maintained pathway with wooden walkways and tunnels carved into the rock. Most visitors spend 45 minutes to an hour exploring the gorge at a comfortable pace.

What is the Staubbach Falls and why is it called that?

The Staubbach Falls is a 297-meter free-falling waterfall near Lauterbrunnen, one of the tallest in Europe. "Staubbach" means "dust stream" because the water disperses into fine mist as it falls, creating a spray effect rather than a solid stream of water.

Does the tour include lunch?

Lunch is not included in the tour. You choose where and when to eat during the day, and your guide can suggest options in Interlaken or Lauterbrunnen.

Is hotel pickup included in the price?

Yes, hotel pickup and drop-off are included. Your driver collects you from your accommodation in the morning and returns you at the end of the day.
