Jungfrau Region tour: Lungernsee, Aare Gorge, Lauterbrunnen
Walk the Aare Gorge on suspended cliffside paths above glacial waters
A private tour of the Jungfrau Region takes you through eight Alpine landmarks in a single day: Lungernsee's turquoise waters, the Aare Gorge's towering canyon walls, Giessbach Falls cascading 500 meters into Lake Brienz, the villages of Iseltwald and Grindelwald, car-free Sulwald reached by cable car, Lauterbrunnen's 72 waterfalls, and Interlaken between two lakes. A guide leads the route in your choice of language, and a private Mercedes handles all transport.

The experience
Lungernsee opens the day: a lake famous for water so clear it reflects the surrounding peaks. After a coffee stop at a mountain restaurant, you enter the Aare Gorge, where safe cliffside walkways let you walk suspended above roaring glacial meltwater while the canyon's towering walls rise around you. The gorge was carved over thousands of years by the force of that water alone.
From there, the tour moves to Giessbach Falls, where a brook tumbles in 14 stages over 500 meters down to Lake Brienz. You can ride Europe's oldest funicular from the lake up to the falls. Iseltwald, a peaceful village on the lake's shore, comes next. It was the filming location for a scene in "Crash Landing on You." Then you choose between Grindelwald, a resort village with direct views of the Eiger's north face, or Sulwald, a car-free hamlet above Lauterbrunnen accessible only by cable car, where the quiet and the vistas are the whole point.
Lauterbrunnen itself sits in a glacial valley dotted with 72 waterfalls (the name means "loud springs"), and the day concludes in Interlaken, the town wedged between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Bottled water and WiFi are on board the Mercedes throughout. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese or German, and pickup is included.

Is this one for you?Choose Grindelwald if you want the Eiger's north face and the heart of the Jungfrau resort scene. Pick Sulwald if you prefer a quiet, car-free escape with views and solitude instead. Both fit the same eight-hour route. The difference is which kind of Alpine village suits your day.
