Step-by-step itinerary

  • Fly over Lake Thun and Lake Brienz
  • View Interlaken city from above
  • Fly past Eiger north face
  • Overfly Schilthorn mountain and terrace
  • See Jungfraujoch and Aletsch Glacier

The experience

The tour departs from Bern-Belp airport and climbs toward the Jungfraujoch, known as the "Top of Europe" because of its position at the heart of the Alps. From the helicopter cockpit you see the massive Aletsch Glacier spreading behind the peak, and the mountain range opens south in a view most ground-based visitors never reach. The pilot navigates you past the Eiger's north face (a vertical wall of rock and eternal snow rising over 4,000 meters) with glaciers clinging to both sides and the Grindelwald valley far below.

The flight then crosses the Schilthorn, a mountain famous from James Bond films, where you spot the tourist terrace and mountain restaurant from above without the crowds that fill the cable car year-round. From there the route descends over Interlaken, the town that takes its name from its position between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Lake Thun's turquoise water (fed by glacier melt stored in the mountains for millions of years) shows its true color only from the air, and Lake Brienz, fed by glacier water alone, sits ringed by steep walls the helicopter flies over.

Your pilot knows the region inside out and provides commentary throughout the flight. Headsets let you hear the narration clearly over the engine noise, and you receive a souvenir from FunFlights to mark the flight. The entire experience lasts 42 minutes from takeoff to landing.

What’s included

  • Private helicopter flight for 42 minutes.
