The experience
You choose between a half-day (3 hours) or full-day (7 hours) session, and your instructor builds the route around your current level. Beginners work on fundamentals at Sunegga, the gentlest terrain in the resort. If you already ski, you'll ride the cogwheel train up to Gornergrat, where easy and intermediate slopes roll out beneath views of the Matterhorn itself. Advanced skiers can push to Klein Matterhorn (Matterhorn Glacier Paradise), where the runs cross a glacier and demand real technique. The instructor teaches or refines skills in real time on the snow, not in a classroom.
Hotel pickup and drop-off bookend the day, so you don't navigate Zermatt's car-free streets with gear. The itinerary is fully customizable. If you want to spend more time on one slope or switch areas partway through, your guide adjusts. Lift tickets and equipment rental (skis, boots, helmet) are separate costs, roughly 75–95 CHF for lifts and around 65 CHF for rental per person, depending on which ski area you choose. Food and drinks are your own, though the long day gives you time to stop at a mountain restaurant if you want.
Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one additional language, and the operator notes the experience suits all fitness levels. The mountains around Zermatt stay open and skiable across a long season, and the Gornergrat railway (a cogwheel train that climbs to 3,089 meters) is the main way you reach the mid-mountain terrain without skiing down to the valley first.

Is this one for you?Choose the half-day option if you want focused skill work on one area. Pick the full-day tour if you want to sample multiple slopes or spend a full morning and afternoon on the mountain. Both options let your instructor adjust the route on the day itself, so you're never locked into a plan that stops fitting once you're on the snow.

What's the difference between the half-day and full-day skiing options in Zermatt?

No. The instructor teaches beginners from scratch at Sunegga, the resort's gentlest area. If you already ski, the guide takes you to terrain that matches your level and helps you improve.
How do I get to the different ski areas? Sunegga, Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn?
Sunegga is reached by cable car from the village. Gornergrat is accessed via the cogwheel train (Gornergrat Railway), which climbs through alpine scenery. Klein Matterhorn (Matterhorn Glacier Paradise) requires a cable car and is the highest and most advanced terrain.
What do I need to pay for separately from the lesson itself?
Ski lift tickets cost roughly 75–95 CHF per person depending on which ski area you choose. Equipment rental (skis, boots and helmet) runs around 65 CHF per person. Food and drinks are also separate.
Is hotel pickup included, and do I need to arrange my own transport to the slopes?
Hotel pickup and drop-off in Zermatt are included. Your instructor meets you at your accommodation, so you don't need to find your way to the ski areas on your own.
