The experience
The tour starts at Interlaken Ost train station and follows the local train down through the Lauterbrunnen valley, a route that sets the rhythm for the whole day. You'll walk through the village itself to reach the Staubbach waterfall, a 297-meter ribbon of water that drops straight down the cliff face. From there, a 10-minute aerial gondola carries you up to Grütschalp while you watch the village shrink below, then a narrow-gauge train hugs the ridge for 15 minutes to Mürren, passing views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau the whole way.
Mürren sits at 1,638 meters and has no road access. You can cross the entire village on foot in 20 minutes. The streets are car-free, lined with old wooden chalets and green meadows. Your guide stays with the group but gives you the afternoon free to choose: eat at one of the mountain restaurants, take an easy alpine walk, or simply sit with the view. If you want to visit other sights like Trümmelbach Falls or the village of Wengen, your guide will point you toward them and you can split off. The rest of the group returns together by train and cable car back to Interlaken, where the tour ends.
What’s included
