The experience

The shoot starts in central Interlaken at the meadow facing Jungfrau, where the photographer captures you with the mountain in the background and, if conditions align, paragliders landing nearby. You'll move through the Kursaalgarten and the old Kursaal with its fountain, shooting from the car's oversized windows so you see the region's history without stopping to walk. The photographer answers questions about Interlaken as you go.

Lake Brienz comes next: the photographer uses professional studio lighting to take portrait, couple and group shots both at the water's edge and, if you want, in the water itself. The backdrop shifts between mountain views and the centuries-old houses of Bönigen village. At Lake Thun, you stop at Neuhaus boat station for photos with the pyramid-shaped Niesen mountain across the water and the nature reserve at your back. Downtown Unterseen, the oldest settlement on the Aare river, gives you shots framed by a 500-year-old fountain and the village church. The final stop is Beatenberg, reached after a 20-minute climb that gains 500 meters in altitude. From there, the Bernese Oberland's highest peaks frame additional portraits in open countryside.

All 180-plus images arrive as 50-megapixel files via Dropbox link within days. You can bring clothes to change into, and the photographer works in English or German. Infants and small children travel in a pram or stroller. Specialized infant seats are available if needed.
