The experience
You arrive at 10:00 or at a time you arrange beforehand. The kennel staff fit you with a harness and snowshoes, then walk you through how the equipment works. Each husky is attached to a belt around your waist. The dog does the work of breaking trail and moving you forward through the snow, so you're not fighting the terrain alone. The hike itself is the point: you move through the landscape with the dog as your engine, stopping for photos and to let the huskies rest and eat their treats.
After the hike, you walk through the rest of the kennel to meet the other dogs. Then everyone gathers at the grillhut, where the guides prepare hot-dogs over an open fire. You sit with a warm drink (tea or coffee), and wind down before heading back. The whole outing runs about three hours from arrival to departure.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, French, Swedish and Dutch.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the actual hiking like with a husky attached to me?
The dog is harnessed to a belt around your waist and pulls you forward as you walk on snowshoes. You're not dragging the husky. It's doing the work of moving through the snow, so the effort is shared. You stop regularly for the dogs to rest and eat treats.
Do I need snowshoe experience to do this?
No prior experience is needed. The guides explain how to use the snowshoes and harness before you start. Moderate fitness is required because you'll be walking in snow for the duration of the hike, but the husky helps carry the effort.
What happens if I'm not comfortable with dogs?
Each person gets their own husky, and the guides explain how to work with the dog before the hike begins. If you have concerns about dogs or the attachment, contact the kennel before booking to discuss what the experience involves.
Is the hot-dog meal included, or do I pay extra?
Grilled hot-dogs and drinks (tea or coffee) are included after the hike. You eat them around the open fire at the grillhut as part of the three-hour outing.
What time does this start, and can I choose a different time?
The standard start time is 10:00 AM. You can arrange a different departure time in advance by contacting the kennel when you book.
