The experience

What happens when you're the last human on Earth? In this self-guided puzzle walk, your name is Kork, and it's been 9 years since you last saw another person. You navigate a hauntingly empty Helsingborg by following mysterious signs through the old town, decoding messages left in a 17th-century half-timbered house and investigating Karnan fortress: a medieval tower that once controlled the strait between Sweden and Denmark. Each stop adds a layer to a mystery that only makes sense when you reach the end.

The walk takes you from the waterfront up through parks and alleyways to the castle above the strait, passing Stortorget square and Kullagatan, where you'll learn why Helsingborg and its Danish twin fought over this narrow passage six times. You download the Questo app, start whenever you like, and move through the city at your own speed. The route is compact (9 stops over roughly 45 minutes to an hour), so it fits easily into a day exploring one of Scandinavia's most underrated historic cities. Clues and a map in the app guide you from stop to stop, and the puzzles are woven into the real landmarks themselves, not separate from them.

The twist ending reframes everything you discovered along the way, turning the walk into something more than a sightseeing route. You'll stand in front of Helsingborg's city hall, cross its important squares, and touch the stones of a fortress that shaped the region's history: all while solving the riddle of what a stranger's writing already knows about you.

Top questions

How does the puzzle walk work if I'm doing it alone?

You download the Questo app, which gives you clues, a map, and coded puzzles to solve at each of the 9 stops. The app tells you where to go next and what to look for at each landmark, so you move through the city at your own pace without a guide.

What is Karnan fortress and why does it matter to the story?

Karnan is a medieval tower in Helsingborg, the only part remaining of a larger Danish fortress that once controlled the entrance between Kattegat and Øresund. In the walk, you investigate it as part of uncovering the mystery, and the app explains its role in the region's history.

Can I start the walk whenever I want, or are there set times?

You start whenever you like. Once you download the Questo app, you can begin the walk at any time that suits your day, and you move through the 9 stops at your own speed.

How long does the whole walk take?

The walk takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour to complete all 9 stops, depending on how long you spend solving puzzles and exploring each landmark.

What's the route like, is it mostly flat, or are there hills?

The route winds from the waterfront up through parks and alleyways to the castle above the strait, so there is some elevation change as you climb toward Karnan fortress, but it's suitable for all physical fitness levels.
