If you want an easy way to hit one of St Lucia’s best beaches straight from your cruise ship, this shuttle gets you there fast. You’ll have time for swimming, people-watching, or even exploring inside Pigeon Island Park if you’re up for it. It’s simple, relaxed, and lets you make the most of your day ashore.
Stepping off the ship, you can already feel the warm breeze and hear a few vendors calling out by the port gates. Our driver was waiting right where they said—no confusion, just a friendly wave and we were off. The ride up to Pigeon Island only took about 20 minutes, but you get these little glimpses of Castries life along the way: school kids in bright uniforms, a guy selling coconuts at the corner, that sort of thing.
The shuttle drops you at the public beach just outside Pigeon Island National Park. No entrance fee here—just soft sand underfoot and water so clear you can see your toes. There’s a faint scent of grilled fish from a nearby shack (I think it was called Jambe de Bois), and locals setting up umbrellas for shade. If you want to check out the park itself, with its old fort ruins and quieter beaches inside, you’ll need to pay a small entry fee at the gate. Our guide explained all this before we hopped out, so no surprises.
Yes, if you want to visit the park or its inner beaches, there’s a separate entrance fee paid directly at the gate. The main public beach outside is free.
Usually about 20 minutes by shuttle, depending on traffic near Castries.
You’ll find small local vendors and shacks near the beach selling snacks and drinks. There’s also a complimentary bottled water, soda or local beer included with your ride.
Your ride includes air-conditioned transport both ways from the port, all local taxes covered, plus one free drink—choose from bottled water, soda or a local beer. We make sure everyone’s comfortable: strollers are fine for kids and service animals are welcome too.
