The experience
You operate the dune buggy yourself from start to finish. After pickup, there's a 15 to 20-minute drive to the ATV base where your guide walks you through the controls, safety rules and what to expect on the terrain ahead. Closed shoes are required. A bandana is optional but useful for the dust. Children as young as 5 can ride as passengers. Drivers must be at least 16.
The route takes you through countryside and former sugar cane plantations with stops at viewpoints overlooking Mount Liamigua and Brimstone Hill Fortress. The terrain is uneven and the pace is active. You're steering, shifting gears and navigating the island's hills, not sitting in a passenger seat. By the time you return to the base, you'll be hot and dusty, which is exactly why the final leg heads straight to South Friars Bay. Your driver meets you there and takes you back to your hotel or ship at a time you've arranged in advance.
The whole experience runs 2.5 hours from pickup to drop-off. Moderate physical fitness helps. The activity involves sustained steering and balance on uneven ground. Bottled water is provided, and your guide stays with the group throughout.
What’s included
- Hotel or port pickup and drop-off.
