The experience
The jeep pulls away from the gate at 6 in the morning, and you're already scanning the plains. Udawalawe National Park spreads out in front of you (grassland, scrub, patches of forest), and the driver who doubles as your tracker knows where to look. You've covered maybe 20 kilometers of rough terrain, seen what the park wanted to show you, and your legs are dusty and your eyes are tired in the best way.
