Kitesurfing Training in Kalpitiya: 3-Hour Lesson with Equipment
Three hours, a kite, the wind, and you on the water
Kitesurfing training in Kalpitiya with De Silva Windresort runs three hours and includes a live instructor, all equipment, and unlimited water time. The school is internationally qualified and operates in English, German and Russian. Children from age 8 are welcome, and pickup is included. You can extend the session or rent gear afterward if you want to keep going.
The Experience
The kite goes up, the board goes on, and the instructor walks you through the mechanics before you're in the water. De Silva Windresort handles the complete setup—harness, board, kite, safety gear—so you show up and start learning. The three-hour session covers the fundamentals: how the kite generates power, how to read the wind window, how to position yourself on the board. The water is unlimited during your time slot, which means you're not watching a clock; you're practicing until the movements start to stick.
If three hours isn't enough, you can add more training on the same day. If you want to keep riding after the lesson ends, you can rent the equipment and go out on your own—the school assumes you're ready and lets you continue. The instructor stays with you throughout the booked time, speaking English, German or Russian depending on what works for your group. Pickup is included, so you don't arrange transport from your hotel.
Children from age 8 can join. The school notes that the activity isn't recommended for people with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or during pregnancy, so check those boxes before booking. Public transportation to Kalpitiya is available if you prefer to make your own way.
