Tandem paragliding in South Tenerife pairs you with an experienced instructor for a flight lasting up to 20 minutes from an 800-meter takeoff, with free pickup from Costa Adeje and all equipment included. You'll ride in an air-conditioned vehicle to the launch site, get briefed on takeoff and landing, then glide over majestic landscapes and beaches, and if you want, try the controls with your pilot's guidance. Landing happens on the soft sands of La Caleta beach when conditions allow.

The experience

Up to 20 minutes in the air starts with a drive up to takeoff in an air-conditioned Mercedes Vito. Once there, you'll be fitted with a harness, helmet and a GoPro camera that records the flight, then briefed on what happens next. After a few quick steps off the hillside, you'll feel yourself float away. Your pilot handles the glider while you settle into the harness and get comfortable. The silence and the view hit at the same time.

Your pilot keeps a running commentary as you fly, pointing out landmarks and explaining how the paraglider works. If thermals are present, he'll hunt for them to push you higher and stretch the flight longer. Eventually you'll glide toward the landing area, touching down softly on your feet on La Caleta beach: the sound of Atlantic waves breaking as you land is part of the memory. The euphoria people describe lasts for days after.

The whole experience, from pickup to landing, takes around two hours. Airsports Tenerife has been flying since 1988, and over 20 years on the island has given them an understanding of local weather patterns that shapes both safety and how high and long you can fly. Children from age 4 are welcome. The maximum weight is 100kg. Bring or borrow sports shoes and sunglasses. The operator has both available if you need them.
