The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel on the southern or eastern coast, followed by a drive into the Anaga Mountains. You'll begin with a short introductory walk of about 25–35 minutes through the Enchanted Forest, where laurel trees and shifting mist create a landscape that feels removed from the resort areas below. On clear days, you can see Mount Teide in the distance. The guide then drives you to the main trailhead, passing a still-inhabited cliffside cave village along the way: a detail that anchors the route in the region's everyday life rather than just its scenery.

The main hike follows mountain trails across ridges, forested slopes and valleys, with terrain that changes constantly: uneven paths, forest sections, and narrow ridgelines. Your guide shares insights into the region's nature and history as you walk. A relaxed picnic break happens partway through (either on a hilltop or inside a cave, depending on conditions) with sandwiches made from Spanish jamón and cheese, juice, energy bars, and dried fruits. The route finishes with a short but physically demanding final climb. Trekking poles, a helmet and a flashlight are provided. The helmet is used for the tunnel sections and the more exposed stretches.

The group stays small, no more than eight people, which keeps the pace personal and the experience unhurried. You'll receive 20–30 digital photos taken throughout the day, and accident and civil liability insurance are included. The full experience, from pickup to return, takes about 7 hours.
